But as there is no frost in the ground (as yet), the water quickly soaks into the ground (once it stops running).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Stream, dubbed &#8220;Ever-So-Often\u201d, comes in from the SW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/glcnargs.org\/glcgardens\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_1285.jpg\" alt=\"he stream in the South\" class=\"wp-image-171 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 640px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 640\/480;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And exits thru our Gate on the North. \u00a0My solid fence (seen on the left), is constructed using panels of Ondura roof panels. \u00a0The solid fence transitions to wire, as the low area with its intermittent flowing water, would carry away the solid panels.\u00a0All of the flotsam will need to be collected and placed into one of the beds. \u00a0Some of the floodwater still lingers, visible thru the Norway Spruce branches on the other side of the fence, upper right.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" data-src=\"https:\/\/glcnargs.org\/glcgardens\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_1287.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-223 lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/glcnargs.org\/glcgardens\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_1287.png 480w, https:\/\/glcnargs.org\/glcgardens\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_1287-225x300.png 225w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 480px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 480\/640;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The raised area on which Andrea is standing was created when the pond was excavated. The removed soil was bermed up around the pond to keep soil-laden flood water (of the intermittent stream) out of the pond. \u00a0Our pond now occupies the site of what was once called \u201cLake Ever-So-Often&#8221;, as this naturally low area often flooded.  The bermed-up sides of the pond are high enough to divert the flow around the pond &#8211; well usually.
